Thalassemia is a genetic disease that requires lifelong treatment, affecting physical, emotional, and social well-being. A decline in subjective well-being is often observed among individuals with major thalassemia due to the health challenges they face. This literature review aims to examine the impact of social support on improving subjective well-being. A narrative review method was used to analyze literature, with data sourced from Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar, limited to publications from 2014 to 2024. Results from five articles indicate that social support enhances life satisfaction, reduces negative affect, and promotes healthy behaviors. A holistic approach by nurses, including emotional support and education, has also proven effective. Additionally, family support helps children cope with emotional and social pressures and improves their academic performance. It is concluded that adequate social support significantly enhances subjective well-being.
